  • Roll out of Ultra-Fast Broadband
    02-November-2009

21st Century technology is essential to the development of New Zealand. Hence the Government is adopting ambitious and forward looking policies to future-proof the country.

One part of this approach is to deliver broadband to homes and schools throughout the country. Ultra-fast broadband is breakthrough technology that will benefit New Zealand greatly over coming years.

The Government is partnering with the private sector to roll out ultra-fast broadband as widely as possible. For example within six years the Government expects 97 per cent of rural schools to have fibre, which is the future of broadband.

Fast broadband will grow the economy by delivering gains in productivity, enhancing our capacity to be innovative and bringing us much closer to the countries that we trade with.

Broadband holds the key to a brighter future for all of us.
