There have been significant developments in two important issues:

    1) Housing The first state house has been sold to its tenants in over ten years. The house sold was a three bedroom bungalow in Hastings. To date 1445 families have expressed interest in buying the state house that they tenant. A number of those expressions are from within the Tamaki electorate. How many more New Zealanders would now be home owners if the sale of state houses had not been stopped in 2000. Houses are sold at market prices.

    2) Health Four new operating theatres dedicated to elective surgery are being built at Greenlane at an estimated cost of $24 million. The new theatres are expected to be in use by mid 2011. The Government had been looking for an increase of 4000 elective operations per year. This figure was exceeded in 2009 with nearly 12,000 extra operations being carried out.

    Promises are being kept.
