Community Link makes it easier for people, their families and communities to access the help and support they need as it involves government and non-government agencies working together in the same location.

Work and Income employs 36 staff at the Glen Innes Community Link. In addition to Work and Income services, people can also speak to staff from Housing New Zealand, the Department of Building and Housing and the East Auckland Budgeting Service which are also located in the building.

Allan Peachey took part in the 2007 Round-the-Bays fun run/walk of 8.4km, just six months after his operation to have a cancerous kidney removed. Allan, seen here going through Kohimarama on his way to the finish at St Heliers, completed the distance in 81m 55s, after starting from right at the back of the field of 65,000.

He competed in the Auckland half marathon in late October, in a time of just over three hours. Not bad for a 58 year old who just a year ago was battling cancer. Allan said it was an exhilarating feeling to cross the Harbour Bridge on foot and it would be something he would want to do again.

Tamaki MP Allan Peachey officially starts the first race of the season in the popular Stroke and Stride series on 2 November. The event now in its 18th season consists of a swim followed by a run along Tamaki Drive. Traditionally held at St Heliers Beach, the first three races this year are being staged at Mission Bay while the re-sanding at St Heliers is being completed. Prior to starting the race Allan Peachey addressed over 400 athletes, wishing them a successful season.

Member of Parliament for Tamaki Allan Peachey congratulates 2006 world of difference recipient Maree Burns of Meadowbank. World of difference will allow Burns to work fulltime for Eating Difficulties Education Network (EDEN) in 2007, tackling the potentially devastating effects of eating difficulties in young people. Burns holds a PhD in psychology, which involved a social psychological analysis of the eating disorder bulimia. Burns says that it is more about health promotion rather than eating disorders.
"I am amazed at the feed back that I have received from the three schools that we have already been into," she said. Burns wants to raise the profile of EDEN and put the issues of eating difficulties and disorders on the mental health agenda. The Vodafone New Zealand Foundation funds the programme and will cover Burns salary and expenses during 2007.
